The V2Pro Series 3 really stands out against the sea of generic pens with its magnetic smart tanks and magnetic pass-through charger. The Series 3 is smart, or if you prefer: clever. It can distinguish between an e-liquid tank, dry herb cartridge or an essential oil atomizer. I currently have an e-liquid tank for review, which normally wouldn’t excite me much, but the Series 3 has a lot to be excited about!
I’ll mention it right off the bat: I love the magnets. The magnetic charger is easy to snap on and off, and if you’re like me and really eat up these types of features/gimmicks you’ll love it! One way or the other, you’ll enjoy the convenience of being able to easily charge (and use) the Series 3.
The charger isn’t the only thing upgraded with magnets. The e-liquid tank is held in place with magnets, too. No more twisting and threading. No more mismatched thread headache. Just magnets. Three pins in the Series 3 detect what kind of tank/cartridge is attached and the voltage is automatically adjusted specifically for that unit.
With the e-liquid tank I’ve been using I get thick, milky vapor draws.
It doesn’t leak! This is the single most important thing for me in an e-liquid tank. Upside down, rightside up, doesn’t matter (within reason, I wouldn’t carry it upside down). The mouthpiece screws onto the 1.6 ml tank and the whole assembly magna-snaps (I made that word up!) into place with a satisfying click.
2/13/15 Update: I went to go fetch my V2Pro Series 3 out of storage for a video and it was covered in e-liquid! IT LEAKED! I’ve heard others complaining about leaking tanks in their Series 3, didn’t believe it until it happened to me.
A small badge on the mouthpiece identifies which tank is currently plugged in. Lining up the badge with the divot on the pen will snap the tank into place, ready for use.
Changing tanks is quick and easy if you have multiple. Yank one out, and magna-snap (there it is again!) another one in. Two seconds!
The Series 3 is one solid tube. Hollow at the top for the cart, 650 mAh battery at the bottom. The (only) button sits flush against the body, surrounded by the indicator light. Above the button is a window to check the e-liquid level.
For those who vape at their desk, the Series 3 can be even used while charging.
2/13/15 Update: My Series 3 e-liquid tank leaked all over the pen. Take from that what you will, it’s not the end of the world, but I was exciting to see a pen that didn’t leak.
I’m excited to see some real innovation come into the pen market. Even more impressive is that the V2Pro Series 3 is reasonably priced. If you’re in the market for an e-liquid pen, I’d highly recommend the V2Pro Series 3!
After playing around with the Series 3, I’m chomping at the bit to see what the V2 team is cooking up with the Series 7 and Series 9 vaporizers.
